Type “tpm.msc” (do not use quotation marks) and choose OK.
If you see a message saying a “Compatible TPM cannot be found,” your PC may have a TPM that is disabled. See How to enable TPM for more information or check your PC manufacturer’s support information for instructions to enable the TPM. If you are able to enable the TPM, complete the next step to verify that it is a TPM 2.0.
If you see a message confirming TPM is ready to use, check

to verify it is 2.0.
If it is less than 2.0 your device will not upgrade to 11.

The one thing that is not clear to me is if you can do a fresh install of windows 11 without needing to install windows 10 first.

I would think you would be able to do that, but it sounds like you cannot, or at least not as a free upgrade.

I am hoping they are not blocking clean installations by forcing upgrades, and clean installations requiring a new key. Hopefully it accepts your windows 10 key if that is the case.

Clean install on unsupported hardware likely works. HOWEVER its not free. And its not clear that non encrypted drives will get windows update patches etc.

I see no compelling reason to EVER buy or use 11 at all especially given the new wonky interface as well as the depricated features.

The main reason to push for bitlocker encryption is to prevent legit users from cloning drives.

They want all windows installations encrypted after OOBE and they want to REQUIRE a Microsoft Account and being Online to get into your pc.

This is the first step to forcing you into the cloud locked exclusively to microsoft.

I have received this information from MS themselves. On supported systems all you need for a clean installation is your Windows 10 key. Again on supported systems. The latest news I have seen on unsupported systems is that you will have to agree to a waiver when installing which basically lays all the potential problems on the user and indicates that the user will not be getting OS updates. Whether they receive security updates is still pretty nebulous. But in the end they do not want unsupported systems running Windows 11 and are going to make it as difficult as possible. This YouTube video spells it out much better than I have tried. Please watch it and comment.

The Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT) architecture, first introduced in 2013 on 4th generation (Haswell) chips, implements TPM functionality within the CPU. PTT fully supports all Microsoft’s requirements for firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM) 2.0 specification.

Supports TPM.MSC as well as bitlocker Etc.

If your model has hardware TPM 1.2 you will have to disable Hardware TPM in BIOS and Disable Virtualization before it lets you enable INTEL PTT Security (if that exists in your Bios).

I have already installed Windows 11 preview on several "Non Supported" PC's but refrain from commenting further since Windows 11 is not officially released.  Microsoft is going to be in hot water if they REQUIRE secure boot ON and do not allow windows 10 to keep working after 2025.

They are not however obligated to allow you to download ISO of windows 10 for later install after 2025. Just as with windows xp, vista, 7, 8 EOL they will likely delete all patches drivers updates.

Which is why you should get a forever recovery DVD that won't break down or detrap BEFORE that happens. Once these DVD's are gone they will NEVER be available again.

I completely agree with your Windows 10 statements. After 2025 this could really contentious for those that want to keep using Windows 10.

Requring Secure boot ON disables any Non Microsoft Blessed hardware which works perfectly fine without microsofts approval.  It also permanently locks out ANY os that does not have a microsoft certificate granting monopoly status to those large linux vendors like Redhat and Ubuntu who pay royalties to microsoft to have secure boot UEFI 64 bit certificates.

Not allowing 3rd party hardware to work in new machines forces that hardware to be obsolete when it otherwise is perfectly fine.

I have zero issues using older hardware including Optiplex GX620 towers from 2006 because those specific machines can run 64 bit windows 10 or 32 bit windows 10 when they have Pentium D 900  Pressler CPU and has DDR2 Ram with PCI-E video slot. GT1030 video or 2 gig Radeon HD5450 video card works just fine in this model and can be migrated forward to new Dell.  Also not a bad investment because GT1030 is directx12 video card PCI-E 2.1

The GX620 tower is a very special machine in that it supports ALL OS from MSDOS , WIN95, WIN98, WINME, WIN2000, WINXP, VISTA, 7, 8, 10.  It has IDE as well as SATA drive ports and has USB 2.0 ports and Legacy Serial and Parallel ports as well as PS2 keyboard and mouse option. A great machine for data recovery and Lab testing.
