new notebook lineup around vista launch?

I am planning on buying a notebook (christmas sales are huge) but I am torn on the idea of waiting until jan 30 when vista is released....do you think dell will center around this and launch an upgraded lineup of notebooks?  or are the sales about as good as i can get them right now?  thanks for the help.

Been checking some DELL notebook prices for the past few months and there does seem to be a downward trend. For example, I think the customizable e1505 costs maybe three hundred dollars less now for the same configuration (currently approx. $1600 for what I chose).

I know most people would like to know the future price of a Vista-installed notebook, inlcuding me. I wish I could remember the change when XP was first available, since that might help me make a guess this time, but that's too long ago. So... if anyone cares to share a guess of their own I'd like know what kind of price jump it might cause-- if any.

If new notebook models are released simultaneously they would almost certainly cost more even without Vista adding to the price.

I could wait several months for a new model to come down in price or go ahead and get one next month. Either way I think there's some gamble to it concerning operability (hardware newness plus software stability) and price.

Tried to check on this about the Inspiron 8100 and XP Home... looks like the notebook might have come a couple months after. XP Home released October 25th 2001, Inspiron 8100 January 2002(?). Anybody know if that's right?
