New Windows In Internet Explorer Open Minmized
When ever I click on a link that should open a new window, Internet Explorer opens the new window minimized in the start bar. Normally when a program is minimized to the start bar you click on the listing in the bar and it restores back to the screen. This isn't the case with the new windows within Internet Explorer. You click on it and nothing happens. The only way to get the window to appear is to right click on the listing in the start bar and then left click on maximize. The window will display correctly at that point. Pop-ups display fine, I just have the problems with the links that have the command to display a new window. I have tried resizing the window and then closing out so windows will remember the size and it still defaults to it. Internet Explorer (6) is doing a new thing as of tonight, when I double click the desktop icon to launch IE it opens minimized like the new windows. The weird thing is, it doesn't do this all the time and there is no set interval. I have tried everything and would like to resolve this without using a restore point and or any steps that can cause me to lose data. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have checked every forum from DELL to Microsoft and no one seems to have any resolution. Thanks for your time.

Using system restore will not affect data, only applications or updates that have been installed after the chosen restore point; so if you haven't installed anything recently, try a restore point.
The other thing you could try is to see if some malware or hijacker has crept in. Run Spybot and /or Adaware. For details, see

To control the size of ANY Windows screen do this:
Open the Window in Question
While Holding Down the Ctrl Key..Resize the Window to your liking
Release the Control key
Close the Window by using the File>Close method NOT the X in the upper right corner.
Your Window will now open Everytime to your setting.

I fixed it! Here is what I did:
1. Closed everything
2. Click Start/Control Panel
3. Folder Options
4. Clicked View tab
5. Scrolled to the bottom and unchecked "Remember each folder's view settings"
6. Clicked Apply and then OK
7. Closed everything again
8. Recreated minimized window issue
9. Resized using CTRL method mentioned above
10. Clicked File/Close
11. Ran through steps 1-6 again this time putting the check back in "Remember each folder's view settings"
12. Reopened I.E. and BAM! it was fixed. Thanks to everyone who assisted me on this.
