No Operating System Media in shipment

Please vote on the Dell Idea Storm Ideas (the more votes I get) the more likely Dell is to implement them and it will make things much simpler in the case given above.

• Make Dell Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7 .iso Files Available to Download

• Print OEM Product Keys for Windows 7 and Office 2010 in the BIOs setup

• One Dell Quickset for All Dell Systems

• Drivers and Downloads Page: List Drivers in Recommended Install Order

• One Software Installation Location

I have wrote a guide (link below) which tells takes you through everything. This includes getting the media from digital river, this media can be used to make a DVD or USB but requires phone activation. It also tells you about the drivers and the dell preinstalled software.

Recently purchased a Dell Insprion Laptop. Could not find the Windows 7 O/S Media - just the utility CD/DVD. Not sure if this was a error in packaging or if Dell does not ship the Operating System anymore. If the latter is true, how do I reinstall given I have wiped all partitions clean including the easy image restore partition?

If you have wiped your HD of all your partitions, and have no OS on, then you will have to give Dell a ring, and get them to send you out a DVD. If the system is still in warranty, then you should get this free. Normally you have to order your media at the time of selection your system, but, it has been known for laptop system page, not to give the option to order media. If you have a retail copy of Win 7, you can use that, or, borrow a dell disc of somebody to reinstall.
