No options displayed after inserting a USB jump drive
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix a laptop for a friend and I noticed that after inserting a flash drive in the usb bay a sound is heard but the options dialog box is not displayed, and nothing else happens. so I have to open the explorer and search for the stick content. it's running windows xp home edition sp2. Spanish Cuando inserto una memoria usb se siente el sonido del sistema del plugging pero la lista de opciones no aparece y uno tiene q abrir el explorador y buscar en mi pc y abrir el drive para trabajar con el mismo. El OS es windows XP home edition sp2. thanks in advance. i've googled it, searched in microsoft and cannot find anything. it is not a problem but it is already a challange. marxial.

If you just want it to open the folder, try this:
Connect the USB drive
Double-click My Computer
Right-click the icon for the USB drive and select Properties
Click Auto-Play tab
Select the type of files on the drive at the top ("Mixed" is a good choice)
Select action you want in box below (eg, Open Folder with Windows Explorer)
Click OK back to desktop
Make sure the folders on USB drive are closed and disconnect/reconnect USB drive. See if it opens the folder (or not).
If it doesn't open the folder, double-click My Computer and right-click the icon for the USB drive. Select Create a Shortcut. Allow it to place a shortcut to the USB drive on the desktop.
I have 2 USB drives (Lexar and Corsair). Auto-play opens the folder on the Corsair but not on the Lexar when either is connected, so I put a Lexar shortcut on my desktop.

Save yourself some grief and create a desktop shortcut to the USB drive. Then all you have to do is double-click the shortcut to open the USB drive's root directory file, or right-click the shortcut for the menu.
Buenos noches.
