no user names on welcome screen

Question

It boots just fine but when it gets to the welcome screen it says to click on the user name. However there are no user names to click on.

if you have a password for the administrator account (which is needed to login to the recovery console), i would try running the recovery console (you have to boot from the win xp cd to run the recovery console, usually), and running 'chkdsk /r' from within the recovery console..   that is just an idea..

I have tried to use the recovery console but when it asks for the administrator password I hit enter since there is no password for the account but it says incorrect password.
Any other suggestions?
