Norton Security and AntiVirus

Question

I have the new Norotn AntiVirus 2005 and when I install it, it knocks out my internet connections so I cannot go onto the internet or outlook express.  So I uninstalled it.  I have Norton Internet Security 2004 on my computer now and now there is a box that comes up saying 'A necessary component for this function is missing or damaged' (D:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus
avprod.dll)  In other words, I have no Norton AntiVirus Protection at all with my computer.  I have no idea where it went or what to do to get it back.  I really want to install the new edition that I have Norton AntiVirus 2005 but cannot because it stops my internet connection and I have cable (Comcast).  Does anyone know what to do and how can I install this Norton AntiVirus 2005 so it doesn't interupt my internet connection.  I hope someone can help.  I getting really aggravated with Norton products now cause it seems like there is always a problem trying to install their products.  It seems like there is a block somewhere.  Thanks for any help.  I don't have any AntiVirus installed now so a response asap would be great.  Thanks.

When you installed NAV 2005, it partially uninstalled the 2004 version which is part of NIS 2004, so files are missing which were incompatible with 2005.  You could probably get the use of NAV 2004 back by doing a custom version of install of NIS and re-installing NAV 2004.  Even safer, would be uninstalling and re-installing the whole thing.  Just make certain (if you have installed SP2) that the Windows firewall has remained turned off, before re-installing NIS.  As for installing NAV 2005, I would uninstall NIS 2004 first and then install NAV 2005.  You can do a custom re-install of NIS 2004, omitting the installation of NAV 2004.  But why did you just buy NAV2005; my memory is that the whole NIS 2005 suite was just $10 more?
