I uninstalled NSW 2004 but after doing a search for Norton and Symantec, I still have several files on my computer. Should I delete these or leave them alone. I have since downloaded AVG for my antivirus program.
I went through the uninstall program and apparantly didn't uninstall it in the proper order. Several of the symantec .dll files interferred with me being able to open, for instance, Microsoft Outlook.
I know there is a tool somewhere that will remove the lingering parts of this program. Norton surely has one but I can't find it on their website.
The other thing...I got two computers from dell outlet. They both had systems works installed but no cd for the program and when it was put on the machine there wasn't any one icon to hit to uninstall the programs so I was forced to go to "add/remove programs" and start taking them out...since there were 5-6 things to remove...the last two wouldn't go away because I had previously removed something that was needed for the remaining programs to work. I was further scratching my head because I recieved disk in the dell packet that said "antivirus software"....but there was no av software on that disk.....the disk was identical to the drivers disk.
So I don't know what dell has done here.....but I need the rest of Nortone Systems Works removed and I can't find the tool to do it on Norton's website.
I found the uninstall tool on the Norton website, but their search engine is real specific....if you don't want to get 1000 items to go through, in downloads, type the exact name of your program, then uninstall.
If you can't get it post your email and I'll send it to you...already have it saved on my computer.
I am having this same issue with my computer... I am unable to uninstall completely and now I am havng problems downloading certain things from thre intrenet. I keep getting an error that says I am not connected but in fact I am sitting on thier site?

Mrs A:
You can delete the folder entitled "symantec" if you have uninstalled all of the Norton software from your system. I hope this is helpful.
