OE password error
After having some problems updating Mc viruscan amd Mc Privacy service, I found I could no longer access my e-mail server through OE. I receive the following error message: There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'mail.srcaccess.net', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Invalid user name or password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92. If someone can tell me what to do, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Derobe

From another forum I recieved this response and in turn replied.
Disable the e-mail scanning function of McAfee. You will still be protected if you try to open or save an infected attachment. E-mail scanning can cause major problems such as loss of all messages ion the Inbox.
You will probably have to go to Properties for that mail account and re-enter correct server information.

Don, thanks for the reply. I disabled e-mail scanning and re-entered all the server info in Outlook but I still get the same message. When I right-click the OE icon on my start menu I get a different menu than I do when accessing through OE, tools, accounts. Is there a possibility something is wrong there or that I have a password hidden somewhere? By the way, I can access my e-mail through my providers server so my account and password are apparently set up right with them.
Thanks for your help.

The error you are receiving can be due to either incorrect server settings or a corrupted password. The quickest way to resolving the problem may be to simply create a new account, entering the server information, user name, and password and deleting the old account when the new account works properly.

Denny,
Thanks for the response. I'd hate to have to change my account but hadn't considered that as a possible solutuion. One thing that surprised me is that Microsoft online help had 0 responses to the error message I recieved. I guess this is not a common problem.
Thanks again,
Donnie

You don't need to change your account, simply create a new account with exactly the same information as the one you currently have. It shouldn't make any difference, but quite often it does.
As to the error message and its apparent rarity, do not judge simply by what you may not have found at Microsoft. There are all the hits you could ask for here.
