Hello Mombodog, thanks for the reply. This is a very recent reinstall (should have mentioned that), and I have already performed several online scans as well as using AV and AS scanners on the pc(laptop inspiron 1300).Am also about to do a system file check, just to be sure its not a corrupt system file, but will also follow your advice, but somehow dont think this is an infection, but you never know. Thanks again,Techdunce:smileyhappy:
Hello e3_prog, just got your reply now (as Ive been watching HJT forum for reply).Have a question, what do I do with this tweak, do I put it in a notepad and save as .bat cos when I go to regedit, I cant find any reference to ALLFILES, under HEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Thanks again, Techdunce:smileyhappy:
Ok, found the reg key, but still not sue what to do with it,do I create a new value with it,just want to be sure before I mess around in there, thanks again,Techdunce:smileyhappy:
Thanks for trying, had hoped to be clicking the "solved"button after using the link provided, but hasnt worked, checked in the registry and the value has changed to the one in the fix, but the send to option has not changed back, but thanks again,Techdunce:smileyhappy:
it does solve the "compressed zip folder issue, but only that. There is a notepad file in my c:\documents and settings\user name\send to folder with some of these missing options there, but its not working for some reason. But Im not done yet, maybe this link might be some use to others in the same boat, thanks again,Techdunce:smileyhappy:
Well, happy to say I figured it out. The link provided in my last post was the clue. In my c:\documents and settings\user name\sendto folder as mentioned earlier, there was a folder named "desktop" and in that folder there is text relating to compressed zip folder\mail recipient\create desktop shortcut, so I followed the same instructions from the link, substituting the file name (to be saved) for each item, example:
for mail recipient i opened notepad, clicked file\save as, and pasted "Mail Recipient.MAPIMail" (without quotes) into the "file name" box, and repeated this for each option in turn.I did get a "windows has to close" error window at one point but restarted and carried on.All`s well now,and all my original right click options are back, so just like to say thanks to those who offered assistance, your efforts are appreciated, and hopefully this might help others with the same issue.Techdunce:smileyhappy:
Yep, it is a good feeling, still dont know why the options vanished in the first place, but at least I know how to get them back, and as an after thought I made a small folder with the "titled" notepads just in case I need to restore them (quicker) again, thanks again Ed, Techdunce:smileyhappy:

Sounds like a possible infection of some sort.

Hi
Click on the link, and choose "run".
I didn't run this particular registry edit,
but I've done others on this site, and all
I did was choose "run", and restared the PC
and the reg edit took affect.

Sorry that didn't work for you,
but isn't it a much better feeling when you solve a problem yourself?
:manvery-happy:
Now you get to click the solve button for your own solution!
