Outlook Express -- cannont send/receive
I use Outlook Express with my DSL account (verizon). I have no problems with the Main Identity at all. Yesterday, I tried to create a subaccount (I am allowed 8 names). I added the subaccount with no problems. However, I cannot send or receive mail with that name.
I figured I just had something checked (or unchecked) and it was a minor problem. I called Verizon tech support and spent an hour on the phone trying different settings. It still wouldn't work. I forget what the outgoing error message was, but incoming said the address was not recognized.
Verizon finally advised me to contact Microsoft. I would rather not spend the $35 they will charge. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Thanks....
Unfortunately, this is not the problem.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone. I followed your instructions (I had already done that, but did it again). Still no luck. I am not surprised to see that Dell and MS blame each other. I may call Dell and see what they say.
Thanks again.

I DID create the subaccount with Verizon first. You will see in my original post that I spent a good hour on the phone with their tech support to try and solve this problem. nothing worked.
Thanks for your response.

Thanks for your response, Rick. Just so you know -- I already did that. I went through screen by screen, copied everything and set up the new account with the exact same info. Still wouldn't work.
But.....I CAN send/receive mail to that e-mail address if I do through the Verizon web site. That's why they say I should contact MS.

Can anyone give me any advice not already tried short of re-installing everything and starting from scratch?

On Friday, I called Verizon tech support and went through all the screens and changed settings as per their instructions. My main account worked fine, but the subaccount did not. I went through all the screens (or so I thought) a few more times on my own. I was positive everything was the same. I DID miss something. Try going through them again, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN, and make sure you check EVERY tab/box in properties to make sure they're identical.
I am going to let Verizon know that one of their techs gave me wrong info. When I first called them, I thought it was something minor that wasn't right.
Good luck.
