outlook express send issues

is it just me or are there any others out there having issues with sending messages after synchronizing using comcast IP???  i have no issues receiving mail in outlook-only sending them-neither comcast nor mcafee were successful in helping me to resolve this issue.  i've tried various things that were suggested by both parties and no luck...i keep getting the error message: The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'sheree12675@comcast.net'. Subject 'test', Account: 'sheree', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 [PERMFAIL] comcast.net requires valid sender domain', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

help!!!!!

sheree12675,

I did a search and cannot be certain but it appears that comcast does not use SSL in its email. If this is the case, try the following:

Open Outlook Express, and click Tools
Then click on Accounts
Then click on your comcast connection and click Properties
Then click Advanced
On this screen remove the checks from the boxes This server requires a secure connection for both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3).

ok all, this is my new message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'sheree', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

now i am getting this message:

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'sheree', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19

just before that pops up-i get a smaller window that reads:POP 3 server is not responding in 300 seconds.   would you like to wait 300 seconds for server to respond?

sheree12675,

Most unusual. The error message should have said Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F. I didn't notice it in your first post, but that error (if it is one) appears there as well.

Take a look at the instructions here and see if everything you have set is in accordance with what they have. It looks like your POP3 server information on the Servers tab of account properties may be incorrect.

sheree12675,

There is an entire "shopping list" of things to try here. Since it seems that everything you try is producing a different error message, it may be worthwhile to simply reinstall Outlook Express. If you are running Windows XP the instructions for this are here.

The first link includes some items including checking firewall settings which may preclude the need for reinstalling OE.

On my first test message I got this, unfortuneately I sent test messages from two accounts.  I resent the test messages with the source identified.

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Correct. When you clicked the email address in her post it entered the addressee as 'sheree12675@comcast.net' and the two apostrophes must be removed in order for the address to be valid.
