Outlook Express won't work

Whenever the computer goes to connect to register a new product, get Live Update, etc. it won't work.  According to Adelphia everything is in right.  I can get email and search the internet via Adelphia or AOL, but when it reverts to Outlook, it won't send anything.  The error messages I get: " task'mail sending & receiving error 0x800CCC79. Unable to send message. Please verify the email address in your account properties."  "The server responded: 550 sender address is invalid."  "Server responded C:\windows\systems32\mlang.dll"   "Your request can not be completed because the service could not be found.  Adjust Network settings. "  Everything looks like it is set up the same on my husband's computer and mine but mine won't work.  I have WIN XP.  We don't have good computer knowledge to know what isn't right and are afraid to just go in and change things.

astikali,

For the Outlook Express problem open Outlook Express and go to Tools|Accounts. Click to select your account then click Properties. On the Advanced tab uncheck "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" for both incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail. While you are in that area, look on the Servers tab and make sure the listings for both incoming and outgoing servers are the same on your system as they are on your husband's.
