Partioning options to lab server 2008

Hi

I'll be studying for some MS 2008 certs.  I purchased a vostro 3700 so that I could lab server 2008 and 2008 hyper-v.  What are my options for keeping windows 7 pro and dual booting to windows 7.  I had dual booted stuff since windows 98, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated:emotion-2:

Thanks again

Mike

Great thanks.  You're definitely a speedy.:emotion-1:

Maybe you'll know if there is a learning version of windows 2008 server.  I'd hate to buy a copy at this stage.

Thanks again

You can multi-boot Vista, 7, 2008, 2008 R2 as if Microsoft intended for you too be able to.  With Windows 7 installed first, simply use Disk Management to "shrink" the volume to create space to install your other OS's (usually a max of 50% shrink).  Then just boot to the Server disks to install, creating a separate partition.  The boot loader will automatically detect multiple OS's and give you the OS option screen on boot up.  It couldn't be easier.  I have a laptop that multi-boots to 7, Vista, 2008, 2008R2, and another that do those four and XP.

No "learning" version that I'm aware of.  Do you have an MSDN or TechNet account.  If not, you might check it out to see if there is an evaluation version or something like that available.  Also, if you are looking at buying more than one OS, it might be cheaper to get into an account than to full-on buy them.  You a student?  Most tech students can download MSDNAA software.

Thanks again

Well in these days what defines  student status.  I'll be studying when I'm not working, and unfortunately won't be able to attend a regular class.  Does online classes have the same status?  if so, how do I know which programs are recognized?  I don't really expect you to know all the details, but if anyone knows of some links that help explain that, that would be great.

Thanks
