PLLZZZZZZZZ Help - Need DVD Decoder for Windows Media Player 11
Can someone please help me find valid codecs for windows media player 11? So, I download some codecs from this site: http://savvybytes.com/2006/10/02/playing-dvds-with-windows-media-player-11/ and in red bold letters it has the link to "XP Codec Pack " -- and I'm thinking this is the solution to my problem since it worked for the user who posted this info. When I installed it, I got can't play unknown dvd due to copyright protection. So apparently this is not going to work for me like it worked for the user.
Would someone please post a link to the codecs for windows media player 11 and one that I don't have to purchase because I don't understand why I should have to purchase codecs when it should be provided with the media player.
I do want to mention that I don't have the internet for my computer. I use another computer to download and install info onto my computer.
If necessary, I have a Dell Dimension E310 Media Center Edition.

I've downloaded VLC yesterday and I believe it's the one with the orange cone. Nothing happen when I put the dvd in the disc drive.
I downloaded VLC before posting this thread -- I read somewhere that it was a better alternative than the bs player, yet it still wasn't playing the dvds.
A dvd that I had purchased the other day plays with Interactual Media player and it wouldn't play it b/c it didn't have a dvd navigator.

The VLC media player download was super easy, and it works fine for playing DVD's with my external DVD player (model PD01S ). Thanks so much!
