Power Users
Hello! I have a question regarding power users on Windows XP. As a power user I'm supposed to have the ability to install programs (and security updates), but am unable to do so. I get an error message that says I need to be logged in as an administrator. What could be the reason for this error message and what can I do to fix the problem? Thanks for your help.

Power Users is a group, not an account type. From Help and Support:
"Members of the Power Users group can create user accounts, but can modify and delete only those accounts they create. They can create local groups and remove users from local groups they have created. They can also remove users from the Power Users, Users, and Guests groups.
They cannot modify the Administrators or Backup Operators groups, nor can they take ownership of files, back up or restore directories, load or unload device drivers, or manage the security and auditing logs."
You can fix the problem by doing the tasks you mention in an administrator account.
