problem downloading new critical updates

I just tried to download three of the newest critical updates (I haven't downloaded SP2 yet). After clicking the download button I received no indication that they're downloaded and ready to install, yet when I click on the icon at the bottom right (the icon is still there because SP2 still hasn't been downloaded) the three updates I selected are no longer listed. Even when I go to the Update Website and scan for available updates, it lists only SP2 as available. So what happened to the three that I downloaded? Is there a way to find them and install them?

I tried rebooting, but no luck.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Mark

More than likely, those updates require sp2 to be installed.  You can check the requirements, if available, to see if thats the case.    Without knowing what updates your referring to,  I can't be sure if thats the case.  Kip

I understand MS is changing its server software from ver4 to ver 5. This seems to be a probleme for some and has been mentioned on several boards.
Maybe it will resolve itself when MS is finished.

Thanks for the quick replies. I went back to the Microsoft Update Site and "uncovered" the hidden critical updates and was able to install them directly. But another question came up for me........I ran the Baseline Security Analyzer, and even with most of the critical updates installed, it still showed 13 that were either missing from my system, or couldn't be confirmed and said my system was at severe risk.

Is this Microsoft analyzer reliable?

thanks again

My advice to you is to install Sp2.  Your really going to get yourself behind the eightball if you dont.  We dont know if these updates you just installed required Sp2 to be in place.  If you install Sp2 it will take care of the ones that Baseline is showing as not installed or not working.  The longer you let this go the farther behind you get, and that goes for everyone who doesnt have it installed.  But getting back to your question, it has been known to be wrong, but how would you know if it is?   The only sure way is to reinstall the updates.  Kip
