no but if you get that bootdisk you can fdisk it and format both ways you will loose data and your win os until you load it again.

well i figured if you do a pc restore then run your os cd it might work, but i see denny has posted the reinstall process for you.

I'm having trouble installing Windows XP to my computer.  I don't have my Certificate of Authenticity. In the Setup box, it says, "Your Product Key: Type the unique product key for your copy of Windows." Then it asks me to enter my 25-character product key in. And If I have one, I don't ever remember seeing one.  My computer is a Dell Dimension 2200. And I am trying to install Windows XP it into a laptop. I don't know what to do.

like i said you can always get the win 98 boot dick and fdisk the partiton and format it then try your os cd and see if you get past the freeze. thats all i can come up with. maybe denny can jump in a give you some help.

well if it's a dell laptop you don't need the key code but it's illegal to put one os that's on one computer that also use on another.

I have done the things listed in that tutorial, but the windows installation freezes in the "windows setup" (when ask u what do u want to do, install, reinstall o exit) stage.
