Problem whem trying to open the C: Drive. HELP!!!
I have a minor problem in windows XP. When I open up My Computer,
and I try to open up a disc drive, such as the C: drive, it goes to
search. Instead of just opening, it would 'search'. When I right click on
the drive, the 'search' option is bold and is fist on the list, 'open'
is below that. I believe 'open' was the default action. How would I
change this? Thank you.

This may work although it addresses the problem of search opening when a folder is double-clicked rather than a hard drive.

Nope, it didnt work. I was hoping it would too. The value was already set to 'none'. Thanks a lot for the help though. Does anybody know how to resolve this problem? Or has anybody encountered this problem?

By analogy with Denny's link solving the problem for folders, look at
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
There also the default value should have data: 'none' (without the '')
Maybe that will solve the problem.
