Problem with Vista 64-bit and 4gb RAM.

Curious if anyone else is running this configuration, or seen this problem.

D620 and D630 laptops, 4gb RAM installed.  (D620 is using nVidia, D630 is using Intel Integrated graphics).

When installing Vista Enterprise 64-bit, the system will crash with a bluescreen (it's rebooting, and I can't read that fast) when 4gb of RAM is in the system.  If I remove the bottom hatch, pluck out a RAM chip and restart, it completes setup and allows me to continue on.  At the first opportunity to shut down, I re-add the 2gb chip, and Vista ticks along like nothing ever happened.

Has anyone else seen this, or seen a MSKB referencing problems with 4gb of RAM at install time?

Something else to do if you want 4 gigs to be addressed with a 64 bit OS for those that are having issues.....

Install with two gigs only, than go to this link to download and install the microsoft fix, than install the second two sticks

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777   Fix for 64 bit Vista and 4 gigs of ram

I can install the second stick anytime after the setup is complete, without installing the patch.

Thanks for the link though... If I can get this slipstreamed, it may fix the problem out the gate.

With Vista's image based installs, it may be awhile before I post back! :-)
