Problems reinstalling MS Office Starter 2010 after system restore

Hello,

I had to system restore my laptop.  Then I received errors messages trying to open Word and Excel.  They are installed via the MS Office Starter 2010 edition. Sorry, I'm not very techie.

When I double-click Word or Excel, it's very slow (downloading the required feature, it says), but it does eventually open.  But then it says "MS Office has encountered a problem with licensing and will have to close.  If this problem persists, uninstall and reinstall your product".

Then it automatically closes down, although I can still view emailed .doc files and .xls files via Skydrive.

This is what I have tried:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010se-office_install/problems-reinstalling-ms-office-starter-2010-after/cc44adf2-6c53-4ff2-8a0a-db3c2fb8620b

I have a Dell Inspiron N7010, but no discs or manuals.

Can anyone please help me?  If so, can you please explain in very simple terms.  I'm really not techie at all!

Thank you.

Office 2010 Starter isn't officially available to download. However unofficially you can obtain the installer from here:

http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/3784.2-2-microsoft-office-2010-starter-unofficial.aspx

Although at the current moment in time, the customer preview for Microsoft Office 2013 is free to use: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/officepreview and is fully functional. You can run it on all your computers until Microsoft discontinue the preview and release the full product.

Hi Natakuc4,

Thank you so much for your help.  However, I tried following the instructions a few times but got very lost.  I downloaded Belarc, tried to find the zip file etc. but it was far too techie for me.

Cont.

But I did get some more help on the other forum and my MS Office Starter 2010 somehow came back.  So my problem is resolved now.  Thank you so much for helping.
