Problems with Drivers

I was having trouble with my computer and a friend of mine suggested updating Windows XP Home with Professional. Instead of updating, he reinstalled XP Professional. Now my drivers do not work. Should I download the original drivers, or will I need to download others because of the fact that I now have Professional instead of Home Edition. By the way, I have an Inspiron 5150. Thanks.

The same drivers will work.  The only difference between Home and Pro is some added features (and security) in Pro.

Was this a clean install?

I believe it was a clean install.   Initially, my internet explorer was not working so a friend suggested updating windows with xp professional.  While updating it was getting hung up on something and could not complete, so then he reinstalled windows completely and now a lot things don't work, like dvd, cd burner, internet.  I am trying to reinstall the drivers now.   I do not have the original backup CDs that my computer came with because they are all in New Orleans where I was living.

tgate11, Go to the top of this page and click on NOTEBOOKS then the type of computer you have. This should lead you to a page where you can download all the drivers for your computer.

I downloaded a driver for my wireless, but it is still saying that I am missing the ethernet controller.  Is there a separate driver for the ethernet.  I do not see it as a choice under networks.  Any advice?  Thanks for all of your help.
