Processes running at start-up
My computer has been running slow lately. I think turning off unnecessary processes would help to correct this problem. I would like to know what I need to keep and what I can turn off or disable. I have Windows XP and 256 of RAM. Here is a list of processes running under normal circumstances (at startup).

Instead of having someone here spend an hour or so checking all of these out, go to the following site for a complete list of all possible programs that could be running from startup and recommendations about whether or not they are necessary.

In addition, please note that many of the processes are system processes that need to be running. Don't mess with any of those that say System, or Network, as you will get yourself into trouble. A better place to look for unnecessary programs is in msconfig (Start > Run - type msconfig, click OK, then look on the Startup tab).
