Recovery Console asking for Administrator password

We had done a service pack 1 update.  Rebooted the computer and know the computer will not go into Windows.  Put the operating system disk in and rebooted with it to get to the recovery console.  When I accessed the recovery console it is asking for administrator password.  We don't remember setting up a password for the machine.  Is there anyway to get around this issue without having to reformat the harddrive?

Hello,

To the best of my knowledge there is no password...Try that and see if it continues with out a password.

Two things:

Remove the CD, and try Last Known Good Configuration
Start/Restart your computer and start pushing F8 key twice per second.
Select Last Known Good Configuration on Windows Advanced Options screen, and push Enter.

Also try Safe Mode.

If not, use blank password at Recovery Console.

I tried pressing the F8 key and loading the last good configuration and this did not work.  I also tried blank as the password for administrator password and this did not work.  Is there any thing else i can try?

plwall,

You should be able to access Recovery Console using the floppy set available here.

I know how to set a password. There's two different sets of passwords on mine.

1. You go to the F2 (Setup) when your computer starts up,and go down to the security, there you can set your own password. Or...

2. On your windows you have to go to the "Control Panel" Select users. You should already have a username. And just type in the password. It should work next time you try.

If your having problems getting into your windows because it asks you for a password. Just click "ok" (Note: this only works for the second option I posted.)
