Follow my wiki A Clean Install of Windows 7 as you are saying you are trying to reinstall the OS from the disc, I assume you are using a Dell Microsoft Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD. Check the label on it, it should look like the following:

Check that it is not the drivers and utilities disc. If it is the correct disc, get a 4 GB or superior USB flash drive, preferably a reliable brand such as a Sandisc cruzer.

On another computer insert the USB stick and insert your Dell Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD.

Go to computer, right click the DVD drive and select open check the contents look the same.

Download the NovaCorp WinToFlash program.

Click on the Green Tick to begin the Windows Setup Transfer Wizard.

Select next.

Select the DVD drive as the Windows Paths File and your USB stick for the USB drive. Click next and wait for it to finish.

Once this is done use this open the new Dell Reinstallation USB andcreate a new folder called SATA. Download R263958 and download and install 7zip (the 32 bit or 64 bit .msi depending on what version of Windows the other computer is running).

Right click the R263958.exe file and select 7zip and then extract to R263958. In the R263958 folder, you will see a f6flpy-x64 folder, copy all the contents of it to the SATA folder I told you to make on the USB stick.

Insert this USB stick into your Studio 1558, remove any CD/DVD. Power down the system and Press F12, select boot from USB. Follow my wiki A Clean Install of Windows 7.

JJ12227,

When you received your system, did it come with a Dell OEM Operating system disk or did you create disks?

The diagnostics are on the drivers disk, which you'll need later.

If you live in the United States, Request Backup Disks USA if in another Country, contact Dell Tech Support in your Country.

The procedure is How To Restore or Reinstall Microsoft® Windows® on a Dell™ Computer

Please make sure to install the drivers in the correct order. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
