Reinstalling XP - problem
I want to reinstall windows because my comp keeps crashing and stuff...
When i go to do it i get a message saying
"Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.
Warning: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be recovered."
How can i do this? do I have to backup all my files\music\video\games???

You get that message because the installed XP has SP2 and your installation disc is SP1 . . You can get around that by:
- Slipstreaming SP2 into your installation disc . . see this thread
- Wipeing the drive and installing XP on a clean partition, then applying SP2. You will have to back up your data files if you do either way.
This is a good guide to reinstalling XP on a Dell.
