Reinstalling XP

Twice I have had to reinstall XP (as per Dell's instructions) to repair damage from virus. Since the new
install does not have any updates and service packs, I have to download and reinstall all of these in order
to keep XP up to date. I don't use the net a lot and use dial up when I do. The download time for these service packs and security updates it quite long. I just did an reinstall and haven't did any updates yet.
Is there any way to save the updates once I download them so I won't have to download again if I have
to do a reinstall. I ask Dell for a disk or CD with XP and current updates but they said none was available.
