Replacement shipped with XP, NOT Vista.
I purchased my Inspiron 9400 a couple of months prior to Vista's release on the authority that my upgrade would be free. If I hadn't received this then I wouldn't have purchased the laptop then as I would've simply waited until Vista came as the default OS to avoid having to pay for the upgrade. My system has recently developed a fault where it electrocutes me, dealing me quite considerable discomfort, and so I have been informed it needs to be replaced. Now, this is going to cause me quite a lot of hassle, as I need to backup and transfer all of my files, reinstall all of my programs and settings, and some of my programs were single license, so I am losing money anyway. Now, I would have expected to have received a unit with Vista installed, but instead they are sending me a system with XP. So through no fault of my own I am being forced to regress back to a lesser OS just because of a fault Dell made, when I bought the laptop from Dell in the first place under the guarantee that it would get Vista, otherwise I would have not made that purchase. I am really unhappy with this situation. Has anyone got any advice?
