Yes, the bluetooth support service is running. After a bit more investigation, I noticed the bthprops.cpl was under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\don't load. Once I removed this line the Microsoft bluetooth stack works as intended.

I would like to say a big thank you for your help, I had previously posted regarding this question.

I would like to add to what you, slightly different, after the PC detected the 350 Bluetooth module card and installed the software i rebooted, I then went into the device manager, right clicked the Wireless 350 Bluetooth module card and update driver, this then changed it to the Dell wireless Bluetooth module rather than Bluetooth card, then the Bluetooth radios icon was displayed.

I looked into the .cpl missing from the control panel but i see you have already solved that again, there is software out there to add icons into the control panel but get a little complicated.

Once again thanks for the info,  greatly appreciated, the Microsoft bluevtooth software is far better than toshiba's stack.

Regards

Adrian

Thanks for the bluetooth help. I could not get the dell 350 bluetooth to recongnize with my other bluetooth PC or my treo 650. I removed the toshiba stack and renamed the original driver file bth.bak to bth.inf and the microsoft drivedr worked great. I spent hours on the toshiba software, what a waste.

Hey guys,

I've just bought Inspiron 9300, with built-in bluetooth. I am finding some trouble with the toshiba software as it doesn't recognize my device, and was happy to know that there's a way to handle. However, i followed the instructions listed above and was able to get the device recognized by windows under bluetooth radios, yet it doesn't seem to work, and the bluetooth icon on sys tray keeps on blinking. I tried lots of stuff, i restarted a few times, tried uninstalling and installing again, and it doesn't seem to work either.

Any help is greatly appreciated as this is really important to me.

Thanks

COM Ports less than COM 40 using the Toshiba Stack. Too tough....I gave up and used the info listed here. I found the replacement info great working just fine on my Inspiron 9300. I was driven to carry out this change as AOL (in the UK) only uses/sees COM1 to COM9 for it's manual modem installation. Microsoft managed to sort it no problem at all.

Thanks

I have had my I9300 for a few weeks now and I am just starting to play around with the B/T.

To my disgust/amazement I am pretty sure that I am unable to sync my Treo650 with the B/T stack that is installed, please tell me this is not the case and if so does Dell honestly think this is aceptable?

If I go through the rigmarole of deleting the Toshiba stack and loading the Microsoft one, will I be able to sync to my 650.

Is it possible to add B/T profiles to the Toshiba stack to enable syncing to my Treo.

Basically, am I SOOL?

I doubt I will ever post again but I just wanted to register and thank Hydrix for your two posts on this thread.

Ive had nothing but trouble with my 9300 and its wireless and BT since I bought it and after several attempts over a number of weeks Id all but given up hope of getting the BT to work properly.

Thankfully I stumbled across this thread. Ive loaded more versions of BT stacks and drivers than I care to remember so to find it was something as simple as renaming the bth.bak and removing a line from the registry has stumped me.

So I now have everything up and running and Im a happy person again.

Cheers
Martyn

HI everybody. I have an Inspiron 6000 with bluetooth and I want to change from toshiba stack to microsoft stack. I have been able to do that, but I haven't been able to see it in my control panel. I can't find the line that hydrix says to remove. Any help or information is apreciated. Thanks.

If you click Start, then Run, and type bthprops.cpl, and click OK, does the control panel open?

Yeah the control panel opens. What I really want to do is to be able to shut down the bluetooth radio w/o turning off my wireless internal card. I have been able to disable it, but not shutting it down.

This is also required to be able to use Delorme's Bluetooth GPS. Delorme was unhelpful in doing that and I haven't been able to use it until now. Thanks

I tried what was described in the first post without luck.

The driver for the bluetooth card was installed but I can't start the control panel by running bthprops.cpl directly. Nothing happens.

Checking the services as the second post suggests I have no bluetooth helper service.

So how do I get bluetooth to work. I do not want to use the Toshiba drivers as there is a known problem with those and the Sony Ericsson P990i phone which can't connect via the USB cable when the Toshiba drivers are installed.

But I also want bluetooth for my mouse and headset.

Best Regards Tommy
