Residue in "Documents & Settings"

That's a good question. The folders were created for various user names that the system generated--Administrator, Administrator-Dell, Administrator-New Dell, All-users, Default user, [my name], [my name]-New Dell, Host, and moi. Some of these are the result of trying to connect two PCs by direct cable connection and the resulting complications.

Do not delete the following

Administrator

All Users

Default user

any user name accounts that appear in the user accounts icon in control panel (other than guest, which uses the default user, I think (mine is disabled).

and (if you have them)

Local Service

Network service

You should be able to delete the others

When I have gone into safe mode as default administror it has generated a folder called Administrator Computername. On returning to normal mode under my own user name, I deleted that folder without ill effect. It is regenerated if I go back into safe mode as system administrator.

If you are in doubt, leaving them in does no harm either..
