You need to right click on the Command Box ICON and then CLICK on Run as Administrator" in the right click menu. The Command Box will open and you then type in SFC /SCANNOW.

verve1,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Run sfc/scannow from a command prompt.

Command Prompt can be accessed via the Command Prompt shortcut located in the Accessories program group in Windows.

Another way to access Command Prompt would be to execute cmd or cmd.exe from the Run dialog.

Go to the Command Prompt, right click and click on Run as Administrator, then run the command.

Thank you both for your replies. I have already previously tried both your suggestions but after typing "run as administrator" in the command prompt window, I get a message "Run is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable programme or batch file".

That's great. Many thanks for that Kirk. I was able to get it to work that time. I was obviously doing it the wrong way before. I can now go back to my previous problem post. Thanks again. Brian.

What command box is this and where do I find it? I have been told to sign on as administrator for my Dell Insperion 15.
