I gues all Windows XP SP 2 have all these files. Is it safe to remove this files to save some hard drive space?

Once I know a Windows update has been working without problems I remove the files beginning $NT . . .
Have done this on many Dimensions without harm for a long time.

I back up these files to CD-R prior to removal from my HD. You never know what future problem might require uninstalling one of those updates.
