Scandisk log and Windows XP

Hi, when running chkdsk at c: prompt it does it in read only.  Returns error message and then tells me to run it with the /f.  When it restarts and it runs I never get message saying it was fixed or found something wrong .  Only get list of 0 bytes in bad sectors and things like that.  In the older versions of Windows, scandisk had a log.  Is there one now to see what is actually happening.  After it has re started and ran it, I go to the c: prompt and run chkdsk again and still get same error.

Where can I find a log---look in event viewer but cant find anything about check or scan disk.  What would I be looking for exactly in event viewer to find the log?

Thanks

Lynne

Lynne M,

After chkdsk /f has finished its run, go to Start|Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Event Viewer|Application. The chkdsk run will show Winlogon as its source. Right-click that entry and choose "Properties" and you will be able to view the log.
