scheduled tasks

Update,

I cant set password details for each user scheduled task, but if you delete the user name from the task, save, then put your password in, save , then go back in and put your user name in it seems to work.

Ok, its been ages since i did this but i thin its like this,

Start to create any sheduled task, blah blah blah, when it gets to the bit where it asks for the user name and passwords just clear the boxes (including passwords) then finish,

Go to the task in task sheduler or whatever and goto properties, then click set password, and type in your user password [if any] then come out and click ok DO NOT PUT IN A USER NAME YET. Then go back in and put in a user name and click OK. For the user name follow the default format given when you first create the task, [i.e. my computer is called dell, my name is andy, my user is DELL\Andy.]

The task should now run if you right click it and click Run.

Now you should be able to shedule tasks normally [at least for this user, untested on others as yet] without all this shinanigans.

Also look at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;264522 but i think its the same error for a different reason, I think its Dell systems, Do you have McAfee? Or Norton?

Thought i was a bit rusty, Leave the username box as it comes then but do not enter a password, that should let you continue, then do properties of the sheduled task, remove the user name, click ok and continue as before in entering a password with no user name.

I'm not on my XP machine at the moment but I think that should work.

 well i got 1 step farther as it added the task but then that same error pops up!

any thing i`m doing wrong or is it this program ?

I think that the error is supposed to appear then, does the sheduled task appear? If yes then continue to remove the username [but remember it] and cllick ok, then carry on at the stage where you have to put a password in with no username(I think thats how I did it). If no then check when you shedule the task that any password is removed first from the task wizard at the end.

You need to copy what i say into wordpag or something as Sometimes pages like these dont print well especially if you navigate to them from Hotmail where it leaves a bar at the top saying 'you hav navigated blah blah...'
