scratched tracks on Windows Media Player

I recently purchased an M1700 XPS with Vista, the T7600G processor, 100GB 7200rpm HD, and 2GB RAM.  I transferred some music onto the hard drive without difficulty or incident.  I have noticed that when playing the music, at the end of every song there is a broken period that sounds like somebody bumped the phonograph.  It lasts about 2-3 seconds and happens in the last 5 seconds of EVERY song.  These songs play perfectly on every other media device I own so it cannot be in the recording.  I receive no errors or malfunctions.  I cannot find any information about it in any forums or literature.  If anybody has any advice or knowledge about this please help.
Thanks,
