SCSI and RAID controllers: Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller

I am trying to "Upgrade" my version of Windows XP Professional to Vista "Ultimate";however, whenever I try to "Upgrade" I receive one incompatibilty issue: Close Windows installation and contact the device manufacturer for updated driver software for these devices: o SCSI and RAID controllers: Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller The compatibility report will be saved to the current Windows desktop. Now, I have found maybe one or two posts concerning fixing this, however I seem to be in a quandry because the fixes were for the original install versions. I just don't know what to do frankly... Any help is much appreciated

Hi
Is Intel 82801 HR/HH/HO SATA RAID Controller  and the above mentioned on this thread - Intel 82801ER SATA RAID are the same?

Secondly MicrosoftTechnet forum a posting suggests that
The Intel chipset software installation utility must be installed prior to installing the Intel Matrix Storage manager.

So how can we with this Dimension at home do that?

I performed the suggested operation, and upon trying to reupgrade the same issue reoccured. However, it seems that when I open the Application itself it states: "The features supported by the system BIOS do not match the features supported by this application. This applys to both The Intel Application Accelerator and the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. As of now, I am on a Gen 2 XPS currently running the AO6 revision of the BIOS and the Accelerator Version is 4.6, while the Matrix Storage Manager is 5.5. In addition, I have been looking around more and have found several topics and people with the same issue as me. One suggestion is that I need to create a RAID Volume to install Vista: However, when I press F2 and try to create a RAID Volume it states: "Create Raid Volume: Error: Not Enough Non-Raid disks available to create a Volume. The Device itself I am having problems with is : Intel 82801ER SATA RAID Controller I believe my chipset is the 875P family because in Devices it states I have a 82875P Memory Control Hub Again, the issue is when trying to Update my XP professional to Vista is: Close Windows installation and contact the device manufacturer for updated driver software for these devices: o SCSI and RAID controllers: Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller The compatibility report will be saved to the current Windows desktop. This problem presents itself for only Dell customors with a Gen 2 XPS Desktop. Other people have had the same problems here: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=829258&SiteID=1 http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/showpost.aspx?postid=738657&siteid=1&sb=0&d=1&at=7&ft=11&tf=0&pageid=1 http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=7226&c=us&l=en&cs=&s=gen http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=7702&c=us&l=en&cs=&s=gen This poster has the EXACT same problem: http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=vista&message.id=9568&c=us&l=en&cs=&s=gen The only problem is I honestly don't see the solution >.>
