beccy1481,

The Certificate of Authenticity for your copy of XP is on a sticker on the case of your computer (on the side for desktops, on the bottom for laptops). If you are reinstalling a Dell OEM copy of XP you will probably not be prompted to enter a COA during the process.

You can extract a COA using Belarc Advisor (download here) but it is likely to be the Dell volume license number for XP rather than the one for your copy.

If you are reinstalling Windows XP, then you need the product code or key. You didn't say, but if you are using a laptop you can look under the laptop and there will be a sticker with the product code on it. If you have a desktop, then it should be on the back of the tower somewhere.

edecuir,

How much more specific do you need? Denny said the sticker was on the side of the case, but is probably too polite to point this out.
