Settting up permissions for applications/softwares

Home Edition or Professional?

Well I have Windows XP Home Edition and its a P4 2.0 Processor, 256MB RAM blah blah blah... Anyway, so did you figure out how to limit users for using certain programs on my computer?  Let me give the example again - If I want that no user should be able to use the AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) or may be some users should not be able to use it, how do I limit it?

Please let me know ASAP...

The reason I asked the question is it's a lot easier to accomplish with XP Professional. With XP Home Edition you have to boot into safe mode and if you right-click the application or folder you should have a security tab that does not exist in normal mode. You can set individual attributes for different users. The only other way I know of involves editing the registry and you probably don't want to go down that road.

Nope - I still haven't figured out a way to limit some of the Windows XP users to have access to certain program and deny access from other programs.  If you come accross a solution, please do let me know.

well just ot let you know I asked Mcfee if I can set it up with my firewall they said no

Dell support could did not know "out of there scope"

Microsoft support web no help

called AOL they said AIM is a free IM program run through netscape they do not control it

as for web support have not found any site that has any info

but will let you know if I find a way
