Simple WMP 11 Question

Not sure if I am missing something ot not, but in WMP 11 if I select an album or playlist in the library and click the play button, WMP plays the last song I was playing.  I can't remember, but I don't think that was the way 10 worked.

I either have to drag the album/playlist to the Play pane or right click and select play.

Not a major thing, just annoying - I want to select and play, not have to drag things around or right click.

Other than that I like WMP 11 - very clean, sleek and pretty.

I would have thought the arrow on that lovely blue button in the lower bar would have done it.  Might be called the "Play" button..... :smileywink:

I can understand it starting where it left off if I had paused play previously, but this is when I have stopped the previous choice.

Is there anyway to open a file (say a video) without right-clicking and selecting file/open. It seems like there should be button somewhere directly on the main window to do this but I have yet to find it. Just downloaded last night and overall like it.

Microsoft is trying to emulate ITunes, which is a lowest common denominator player, in that style superceeds useability and teh ability to customize the controls. Apple IS the NEW Big Brother...BTW

so WMP11 is all about the playlist, ignoring especially the millions of people who have ripped all of their CDs to their computers, and who still browse and play them by artist and album (like flipping through a collection), not by using Playlists.

What we are in is the end of hobby programs and into mass marketing and consolidation-- see Zune and DRM...that is the next step...

I am sticking with WP10 until Vista forces me to switch-- then I will probably start using a stand alone player, since I do not need to download new music (I would rather buy the CD and be able to copy at will to whatever player I want, or my car, or... )

I'm with Nemesis on this one.  I like browsing through like that too.  And Apple?  Well, as someone posted the other day, that just isn't who I am!

Thanks for the comments guys, but I see we haven't solved the problem?

I've fiddled with it, and still can't see anyway around it.  I can't see the logic in requiring the user to move something from the left side of the page to the right in order to play it, when it is all organised quite nicely on the left side of the page.  OK for creating a new playlist, you have to have a scatch pad to work on - but to play?  Makes NO sense to me at all.

I don't download much either, I prefer to buy the CD, so I might end up changing players as well.

It was worth asking the question though.

Thanks guys.
