SMAX4PNP error message

Upon shutdown, I get a box that reads:
End Program SMAX4PNP...this program is not responding.....to return to Windows and check the status of the program, click Cancel......if you choose to end the program immediately, you will lose any unsaved data......to end the program now, click  End Now.
How do I fix the problem and make this message go away?

Just to let you know, I am having the same problem. Ad-aware and Mcaffee have found no problems. My current version of Soundmax is 5.12.01.5211. I see on my system download page that there is a newer version 5.12.01.5243. Anybody else having this problem? It has happened twice to me. When it happens, XP will not shut itself down. Takes a power off to reset.

I'm having the same problem recurring quite frequently and haven't found a solution to it.

IE also frequently will not respond and freezes the computer requiring me to use the power button to shut it off.

Windows XP was supposed to be more stable than Win 98 and not affected by individual programs crashing. I wish!
