Software conflict with a new HP scanner. Need some help and advice.

I have a software conflict. I bought a new HP Scanjet 4890, and have installed the HP software appropriately. When I open the scanner software program called "HP Solution", my computer monitor goes black for about 4 seconds, and then it lights up again, but all the icons including the HP Solution screen, are a harsh, abnormally vivid color. When I close that program, there is again a 4 second darnkness, and then the screen is perfectly normal again. While the HP solution screen is open, I can operate the scanner successfully. But I'm scared about whatever it is causing the conflict and instability. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the HP software multi times.  Hewlett-Packerd support techs say the problem is a Dell issue within my computer. The computer did, and still does, work fine except for this one issue.  Can anyone help me?

You might try the latest HP driver software from here.

sounds like it has a conflict with the graphics driver, you might also check to see if Dell has a newer graphics driver for that PC, what model is it?

would the term Graphic Driver have any other name.  I can't find such on the Dell website.
