Sound is not working at all

my sound is not working at all, even when i turn on the computer it does not sound.  i downloaded the driver Crystal from the dell website.  it has not helped.  i recently had a problem with the M1004 error, and my sound has not worked since then.  the M1004 is finally fixed but the sound is still missing.

What operating system are you using? Is your sound integrated or is it an Audigy card?

Could be hardware... Try doing a system restore to the last point you know your sound worked. Keep in mind you will have to update all your software again.

Try Dell Diagnostics for a reliable hardware test.

Have you gone into Control Panel and clicked on Sounds and Audio devices to see if your sounds

have been turned off.

i did a windows restore and didn't fix it.
I noticed that I am missing the following once I go to the Volume and Sound Devices option at the Control Panel:  Intel(r) Integrated Audio.  Intel(r) 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio Controller.
I checked on my sister's computer, we both have the same laptop, and mine only says No Audio Device.
I hope this helps for you guys to help me :smileysad:, i have been trying to fix it for a while now.

Sounds like your either A.) Missing the audio driver you require or ...

even worse B.) The sound card that is installed is dead.

If B.) is the case you will need to contact Dell support and ask for a repair.

SirJad, I am having the same problem, also with a 8200 Inspiron.

I've tried installing the drivers, and OS many times, and no sound.

I found if you disable the device, and then enable, it'll work until you reboot the laptop.

It's odd, the sound works from the Diagnostics test.
