SP2 and Norton's Antivirus

I am running symantec corporate v9 and had the same problem after upgrading to SP2.  Symantec/Norton are slowly releasing patches to let their programs hook into the security center.

The patch for corporate v9 does nothing more than tell the security center it is always running OK, despite any problems it may be having.

At this point, many of the patches seem to be taking a, "let's mask the issue for now, and add true SP2 functionality later" approach.  Still, check and see what symantec offers (it was not avialable through liveupdate for me, I had to get it from their website).  Installing it is probably worth getting rid of the message, even if the product is simply lying to the security center.

To me if it's lying to the security center that's not fair to the people that are paying good money for their product. That's an unaccectable fix.

It may just be for the corporate  version ...  but that's basically all the patch I got did.

Too bad Symantec still hasn't released any updates for NAV 2003.... so for those customers who have been buying new virus subscriptions, but still using NAV 2003... apparently Symantec has just given them a turned up nose and don't really care any more.

The 'unknown' status is M$ way of creating F.U.D. (fear, uncertainty, and doubt). It is the Security Center complaining that it doesn't like the fact that you're using third party products. I run Norton SystemWorks 2004 and Norton Personal Firewall 2004 under SP2 - with M$ firewall and anti-virus turned off. The unknown status does not affect the Norton products. Symantec has decided that it is not critical to immediately issue a cosmetic update.

It has nothing to do with running 3rd party software... sheesh. Who is the one spreading FUD now? I wasn't aware Microsoft made an anti-virus softwware??? I have tested several firewalls that work fine with the security center with no abnormalities with the Security Center. So, shut your mouth about something you know nothing about. NAV 2005 works fine with the Security Center. NAV 2003 came out before SP2 so obviously, there are issues to be worked out.
