Spelling Checker with Outlook Express 6.0 is not functioning

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 which came with Outlook Express 6.0.  I subsequently installed Microsoft Office 97 Small Business Edition with both Word 97 and Excel 97.  The Spelling Checker within both Word and Excel work fine.  The Outlook Express 6.0 Spelling checker state "An error occured while the spelling was being checked".  The Outlook Express help menu states that it uses the Spelling Checker within Word/Excel.  Well, what do I need to do so Outlook will use the Word/Excel Spelling Checker?

Sounds great Denny, but now I need a program to download the .dll file.  Any thoughts?

Klutchpike,

The normal cause for that problem with Office 97 apps is a missing file. See if installing the file here corrects the problem.

Klutchpike,

I don't understand the question. If you click the filename your browser will download it to your hard disk. Once it's there simply copy it to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof.

Oh, I think you understood the question, I just simply didn't understand the first response.  What I did not understand was that I didn't need to "Open" the file, but rather to save the file.  I finally figured that out.  Unfortunately, I saved it in My Documents and then tried to open it...that's when I got the same "what program do you want to open it with" message.  Well thanks to your second reply, I saved it in the recommended spot and waa laa ....Outlook Express Spelling Checker works like a charm.  Thank you very much.  From one hard headed old fart.
