Start menu and taskbar icons gone

During a Intel and Wifi driver installation whose size was 185MB and had long set of numbers in the name of this driver, I happen to close the black screen which poped up while the installation was in progress after which I got a message saying that this cannot be installed at this moment. After the restart the start menu does not pop up when clicked on the windows icon and neither does it happen when the keyboard is used and also the taskbar icons have disappeared

krnsen,

For my notes, click my username and send me the pc service tag number via private message.

Also, what computer model do you have and what Operating system is installed? If you have Windows 10 do a system restore by click the link below and following the information.

Factory reset, restore, or reinstall Microsoft Windows on a Dell computer

1. Sometimes, that's just a "temporary file/folder" being created/extracted ... no big deal.

2. Try Windows Safe-Mode.

3. Where did you get it? Was it authorized/legit ?
