STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}

Question

Hi,

I have an XPS420 running Windows Vista Home Premium. This morning I got a blue screen with the following message:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a sta
tus of 0x00000000 (0xc0000001 0x001004dc)
The system has been shut down

Anyone who knows what to do? Is reinstalling the OS the only alternative? Can my stored data be saved?

Before reinstalling the OS, try rebooting, going to F8 I believe it is and selecting Last Known GOod Configuration.

This explains what you can try.

Might be just a corrupt file, or a virus, but try Last Good Configuration or what the article says. Maybe you can get it working without having to reinstall losing all your important data.
