System is always detecting a mouse, even when one is not connected
This is annoying because when I do plug in a mouse, I like the feature that automatically turns off the touchpad. However, when I turn on this feature and unplug my mouse, the touchpad remains inactive. I've notice that even when nothing is plugged in, under Mouse settings, it always says "A mouse is connected."
My only mouse is USB wired, and I don't have anything connected via bluetooth. Any fixes or workarounds? Thanks!
Side note: I originally thought this was a Windows 10 issue so I posted in a Microsoft forum, but I've learned that this only occurs on other Dells.
Other side note: when I go to device manager, under "Mice and other pointing devices," there are always "3" mice attached:
-HID-compliant mouse
-HID-compliant mouse
-PS/2 Compatible Mouse
I've tried both updating and uninstalling the mice but to no avail.

I just tried my system by going into Settings, Devices, Mouse & Touchpad and set Leave Touchpad on to OFF.
I then plugged in a wired mouse to the USB 2.0 port and the touchpad ceased to function. When I removed the mouse, it started again.
My system always shows the two mice and adds a third when I plug in the mouse. If you look at the properties you can see one of the HID mice shows as "on USB input" and one shows as "on I2C HID Device". The USB one is the mouse being used and the other two entries never go away but the system still works.
If your third mouse does not disappear, find the one which mentions USB Input device and uninstall it. My third mouse did disappear when I unplugged the mouse.

I was wondering if the mouse had some software tied to it, such as an updater utility...
Hope it keeps working..

My third mouse didn't disappear and uninstalling it didn't work the first time - when I restarted my computer it came back installed.. However, I tried it again for kicks and the second time it stayed uninstalled (not sure where I screwed up before). Thanks for your help!

Actually this isn't just a Microsoft issue. I've an Acer Predator and I'm also facing this issue but I've 1 speculation - This problem started today in my computer after I installed Corsair iCue application. But I haven't actually used my touchpad for quite some time so I don't know how valid my assessment is. But yeah, this problem is no longer limited to Dell laptops.
