System reinstall

My one year old Inspiron Notebook has a virus that I can not eliminate even with Symantec's help. Do I have to reformat the HD and reinstall all software or will the Symantec PC restore option work instead of reloading the operating system ?

    Before you do that you should go to the HijackThis forum, read the instructions on how to post a log, and then do so.  The pros there can cure just about anything.

    PC Restore will restore it to the state it was shipped. What ever you added since then will have to be reinstalled.
