System Repair Pending which requires Boot to Complete
After dealing with a severe re-occuring malware problem which needed Microsoft's offline scan to eliminate, I started having trouble getting my Dell laptop to boot up. First I get aWindows Error Recovery screen with a message telling me that Windows failed to startand that I should Launch startup repair. So I complete the launch as recommended and afterwards a screen pops up sayingStartup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. In advanced options for recovery and support I tried usingSytemRestore which told me because of an error the restore was unsuccessful. I also did a chkdsk/rand bootrec/fixboot in command prompt which did nothing at all and finally a Dell DataSafe Restore and EmergencyBackupwhich was useless and probably just made things worse for me. Anyway I went back intocommand prompt this morning to try a sfc/scannow and I got the following message:
There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot to complete. Restart windows and try sfc again.
I'm thinking this is a repair from the chldsk/r I completed earlier. Great, except when I reboot the repair does not startup and the system just goes back to theWindows Error Recovery screen. Is there a way to force the repair to complete? Or is time for a reinstall?

You probably know this--There should be a space on each command before the forward slash /r and /scannow and any other command or they will not actually run-- chkdsk /r and sfc /scannow etc.
You should say what operating system and model computer you have. Try booting to your operating system disk and do a repair installation. If you get the error--Startup repair cannot repair automatically, you are stuck in a loop and rebooting does nothing.
