So what happens after you run the Dell Factory Image Restore?

We need to know what the error messages say

enter in safe mode then do a restore. Mine also gives me an error message if I try to restore without going into safe mode first. Hope this was what you were looking for.

I'm not sure what Norton product you have installed, but it's very possible that Norton is interfering with System Restore.

Somewhere in your settings for Norton, you probably have a setting called "Turn on protection for my Symantec product". If this is turned on, no other program (virus or malware) can alter Norton system files (which is good). BUT, it also prevents System Restore from working. A System Restore (as you know) will try to restore everything to an earlier state. But, because Norton is protecting its own files, System Restore cannot modify them and thus the restore fails.

Try to find this setting, turn it off, and then try a System Restore again. Hope this helps.
